River Lovenstein

Sage Holland and River Lovenstein will be special featured artists at The Arkansas Craft Guild Gallery Saturday May 14th, 2022 to show new work and discuss their involvement in the Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts (A.F.T.A) apprenticeship program.

Sage Holland - Glass bead necklace

This is the Master and Apprentice award period 2021-2022 which they competed and were successfully awarded the opportunity to meet and work together. River already had some experience from workshops he had attended a few years ago given by Sage at the Arkansas Craft School. He held the hope for learning more and finally to have his own studio so he could practice at home. The studio came together for him in the fall of 2021 just in time for the requirements the A.F.T.A experience with Sage. River has a special interest in the history of the bead. This is also a specific niche in the knowledge shared through both Sage and Tom Holland.

River is in his mid twenties. He attended Mountain View High School as well as the Arkansas Math and Science School in Hot Springs. He also attended UCA in Conway.

Sage and River are one team out of three award winners of the AFTA State wide Master Apprentice award season.
